Rape is non-consensual sex. If it is non-consensual, it is rape. It doesn't matter if the two parties are married or not.

I am a female and I do not think that it is ethical and fair for a legal husband to get away scotfree from having a sexual intercourse with his legal wife without her consent. There should be mutual respect between husbands and wives, and in a rape case (be it by a legal husband or not), mutual respect is non-existent.

Husbands are meant to be one of the closest people that their wives can love and trust. Beasts who do this are not men.

As a first-world country, there is no way Singapore should allow such painfully out-of-date laws exist. For all the gender equality Singapore touts itself to have, this is by far the greatest oversight the government has made. I love Singapore as my home, but I cannot help but feel the government I re-elect year after year is not living up to its promises in protecting its female citizens.

Because Singapore's civil rights track record is painful to look at.
