There should be mutual consent to sexual intercourse between husband and wife. If the wife declines, then the husband must respect her decision and not impose himself on her.

Forced sex is rape, whether between married or unmarried people. Husband and wife should have open communication about each other's needs and should maintain dignity and respect towards each other at all times.
