| Dear Prime Minister,
I believe that every woman and man deserves to be treated with love and dignity from their spouse in their marriage. No woman should be threatened in fear for their lives or for their children to accept rape as part of their lives. A husband who would slap, tie and rape his wife is more like a monster than a guardian to his household. His children could also be in danger of being assaulted too. Children see, children learn, it may also become a vicious cycle for future generations to come. I believe that strong women can bring up capable children who can contribute positively to our country. Saying NO to rape within marriage passes a firm message to these women to reconsider their tolerance level of the abuse and that enough should be enough. They have the choice to decide how a wife and her children should be treated, as well as how a husband and gentleman should treat his family. Please consider our appeal. Thank you. | To me, rape is rape and non-consensual as long as the woman involved states explicitly that she did not consent to having intercourse with the man involved. Even those still married and living together can get involved in marital rape, and if the woman feels action needs to be taken against the man, the law should take into consideration the fact that she does have the right to say no to intercourse with her husband. | |
