It's not right. There should be mutual respect in a marrige. Marriage is not a licence to abuse because that's what rape is, marital or not. No consent given!

It is absurd to say that if a man causes "grievous hurt" to his wife, and it doesn't amount to rape just because they are married. Be on the victim's receiving end, and see if it's still "grievous hurt". It's way more then that, an eternal emotional scar for life. Shouldn't the government do more to protect it's people? start small scale, start from the homes, something that's closer to our hearts.

In the pluralistic world we live in today, there is hardly a human right that is not contestable. Even the right to live is debatable. But the freedom from torture is not. No one should have to live in a cycle of violence. Nor should anyone adulterate the security and comfort characteristic of a home and turn it into a prison of oppression and fear. Let's stop marital rape today.
