Marriage is about two people who come together to commit themselves to each other with love. Rape is a serious act of violence and has no place in the union of love. Please stop the abusive act that has no part in marriage.

NO means NO. Abuse is abuse. Worst when it's betrayal by someone who is to love, honour and cherish the wife.
If there is no protection, why should a woman get married. A single woman can have protection against date-rape but a married woman can't get help ?
The bruises and the physical signs may disappear. But the mental torture can never be erased. Who's going to heal the victim ?

Marital rape is a crime, like any other crime as it involves the infringement of an individual's right. If our other fellow Asian countries can recognise this, why can't Singapore? We like to pride ourselves as the leading Asian hub, but it is time our actions speak louder than our words. Granted, a spouse may be a 'special' or significant other of the individual, but being married does not equate to 'owning' the other person and his or her rights. Perhaps the fact that such an important basic right is not even accorded to our women may explain why more of our young women, like me, (who are more educated as compared to their older counterparts) are less keen on getting married nowadays.

WE GOT TO STOP THIS. AND I HOPE THERE IS A PUNISHMENT FOR THOSE HUSBANDS WHO FORCED THEIR WIFES FOR SEX AND THOSE WHO COMMIT VIOLENCE TOWARDS THEIR WIFE.

I believe in the freedom of choice. Non-consensual intercourse could also result in unplanned pregnancies adding to the misery of the woman and the termination of the life of an unborn child or if brought to term, his or her difficulties in life.

Regardless of whether a couple is married or not, non-consensual sex is definately a violation of human rights thus the equivalent of rape.
