Rape is a form of abuse, and nobody should be allowed to get away with it.

If the guy loves you, he would respect your decision not to have sex and not force himself upon you. He would also not utilize threats of finding other women, if you did not consent to sex, as a means to coercive you into the act because this amounts to "rape" in another form.

This issue reflects the vunerablity of being situated in the position of a married women. If being raped under the status of a married wife is not against the law, won't being just a girlfriend safer? At least, should the boyfriend rapes the girlfriend, he will have to face the punishments of the law.

Marital immunity is an archaic practice that is incompatible with Singapore's status as a developed nation. If women in Singapore are to have attained parity, they should not be doomed to subordination by the wills of their husbands. Abolish marital rape immunity today!

Rape is rape. It doesn't matter if you're married or not. Sexual violence is unlawful.
