The marital rape exemption legitimizes the violation of a woman's personal sovereignty.

While I understand the complications of acknowledging marital rape, an act of violation is an act of violence and blatant intrusion of body and mind.
Section 375(4) provides that, except in limited circumstances inapplicable to the majority of married women, this act will not amount to rape, if the perpetrator and the victim are married to each other. I do hope that the minority cases be justly trial under "rape" and not overruled by the overriding tone of section 375(4) of the "sanctity" of marital status.
