As a law student, I can't understand why an outdated law that has no relevance in today's society and which the English have addressed years ago is not being similarly taken care of in Singapore. As a country that promotes itself with first-world excellence in everything it does, our laws in contrast are woefully medieval and cannot keep pace with the current concerns of the population. It's bad enough that our country is on the watchlist every human rights organization for not even having any basic human rights, but this current law is a shameful embarrassment and an insult, both to lawyers, and to females everywhere. Rape is one of the most violent crimes that is most frequently used by males against females, and should never be legalized in any situation.
