Marital rape immunity is totally unacceptable and is an anomaly in our rule book, especially taking into account the position under the Women's Charter that women are not to be treated as property of her husband.

Marriage should not give a man or woman the rights to take what that is not given willingly. Else there would be no difference from slavery.

It is wrong to subject women and especially minor to living under this type of discrimation.

The bond of marriage does not and should not invalidate the principle of sexual consent. To think otherwise is to regard one's spouse as chattel; an item that one can use as desired. Treating non-consensual sexual intercourse in a marriage as anything other than rape reinforces the idea that a spouse is nothing other than chattel. Surely, we want marriage to reflect values more worthy than this.
