With the current laws, it is probably safer (or at least easier for women to seek legal protection) for her to sleep on the streets rather than next to her so call husband.

Getting married does not mean giving the right to abuse your partner.

By passing this law, we are not only protecting women but also empowering them to realise that their husbands do not and will not have the right to force themselves on them.

As a lawyer, and more importantly, a woman, I believe this law is archaic and should be relooked. (Note to researchers, as a law student in England, one of the most significant caselaws was the abolishment of marital rape immunity given to husbands in the UK & EU)
