1. I am surprised that marital rape is not considered a crime.
2. I am surprised that a petition is really required for something that is so logical especially in current times.
3. I am surprised that this petition is gender biased - the faq mentions that if there is enough support from men we can reconsider. Do we really need to wait for that why not be proactive ? Should it not cover every person ? FYI I am a woman and i think this is fair.
4. I am surprised to see people signing the petition because they belong to a particular religion. Lets not get religion into this at an individual level and lets keep the law and religion as separate as possible.

I agree absolutely that rape is rape is rape. Every woman should be protected againstthe rapist even he is her husband. Hence the law that does criminalise marital rape must be repealed.

To be raped by someone you love is more heartbreaking and traumatizing than anything else, especially if your husband cheated on you. A marriage may constitute agreement to sexual intercourse; it also involves faithfulness and love. If a husband does not fulfill his duty, is his wife compelled to fulfill hers? Times have changed, we need to review the law when necessary.
