When I was in Singapore, I used to counsel other students of my age who came from dysfunctional families. In some of these cases, they spoke to me about their mother's agony, sometimes arising out of rape and other forced physical conduct that often accompanies rape. It is very shocking how common marital rape and other forms of domestic violence is. That is why it is so so important that this campaign has finally started. We all have a duty to keep debating and promoting these issues to keep it on the agenda. It's not always easy to begin a campaign especially one deemed quite controversial, so to all behind this (emails, petitions, meetings, website building, networking), well done!
